Our Hawaii Honeymoon!

From the moment we started dreaming up our ideal honeymoon, Michael and I were going back and forth between a fun Europe trip and a tropical Hawaiian vacation. We thought about what we really wanted out of a week long vacation and a lot of that involved relaxing in the sun. So of course Hawaii is perfect for that! It is a classic tropical destination that so many newlyweds choose for their honeymoon. We wanted a week of a lot of relaxation with a little adventure mixed in. I had never been to Hawaii, and Michael had not been since he was a kid. So we were both so excited to visit! We went in October which was the perfect time for us. It was still very warm and sunny, with very little rain. I wrote a brief overview of where we stayed, what we did, where we ate, and what I wore. But there is so much we didn’t get to do so we can’t wait to go back and keep exploring. 🙂

Where we stayed:

Wailea Beach Resort. This hotel was a great location in Wailea next to all the other major resorts. The food was delicious, the views were stunning, and the staff were so friendly.

Airbnb in Kaanapali. We chose a very affordable condo rental in Kaanapali for the next 4 nights of our trip. We really enjoyed cooking our own meals and having some privacy away from the busy resorts. The condo was walking distance to the beach and a few restaurants. It was fully equipped with beach chairs, towels, and umbrella too which was super handy!

What we did:

Shops at Wailea- A short walk from the major Wailea resorts. There is a mix of high end shops, some t-shirt shops, and cute boutiques. I purchased this L Space hat  in one of the boutiques and wore it almost everyday!

Golf Wailea- Michael golfed at Wailea Blue Golf Course. He is a huge golfer and usually I don’t care to tag along on his golf outings, but I was more than happy to join him this time. I brought a good book, lots of sunscreen, and relaxed in the golf cart while he played. It was so nice to just spend time outside and enjoy the views!

Luau at Wailea Beach Resort- Attending a luau was highly recommended to us while on our trip and we’re so glad we went. The Te Au Moana was held at the resort and told a beautiful story of the history and culture of Hawaii. There was singing, dancing, really great food, and an open bar. We loved every minute!

Kayak Snorkel tour- This was a last minute activity we decided to do while we were there. The snorkel tour was with a group of about 10 people and a professional guide. We hopped on kayaks and did some snorkeling around the reefs, not too far off the beach. Our guide shared some really great knowledge on the local sea life and we got to see a few turtles!

Hike Waihee Ridge Trail- this hike is no joke! It is definitely a moderate level difficulty in my opinion. But the views are definitely worth it.

Napili Bay Beach- This was our favorite beach by far. It is a secluded cove so the water is calm and clear. It is a great spot to swim, float, or do some snorkeling.

Kaanapali beach- a beautiful long stretch of beach, when we were there the tide was super high so unfortunately there wasn’t a ton of space on the beach to set up.

What we ate:

All these restaurants were very good and we would highly recommend them!!

Hotel restaurants- Humble Market Kitchen and Kapa Bar and Grill, both excellent!

Lappert’s ice cream- this ice cream was SUPER tasty.

Leoda’s pies- REALLY tasty pies. My favorite was key lime!

Monkey Pod- Great variety of food options we loved everything we got!

Pacifico- Right on the water in Lahaina and some of the best fresh fish we have ever had.

Moku Roots- Yummy vegan, zero waste spot in Lahaina. Bring your own containers for to-go food!

More recs we didn’t get a chance to try: Hawaiian Moons, Maui Brewing Co, The Seahouse, Joey’s Kitchen
